Our Take

What makes East Branch Campground special

East Branch Campground rests along the shores of East Branch Lake in the forested hills of northeastern Elk County, Pennsylvania. With 33 sites tucked beneath a mature canopy of hardwoods, this campground offers a tranquil retreat in one of the most heavily wooded regions in the eastern United States. The lake is the main draw here, and for good reason. East Branch Lake is renowned as an excellent freshwater fishery, attracting anglers who come for walleye, bass, muskie, and panfish. Whether you prefer casting from the bank at dawn or trolling from a boat in the late afternoon, the fishing here is consistently rewarding. A boat launch provides easy access, and the lake's relatively uncrowded waters make for a relaxing day on the water. Beyond fishing, the surrounding Allegheny National Forest landscape invites exploration by foot, bike, or simply by sitting still and watching the wildlife. White-tailed deer, wild turkey, and a variety of songbirds are common visitors to the campground. Fall brings one of Pennsylvania's most spectacular foliage displays, transforming the forest into a tapestry of scarlet, amber, and gold. East Branch Campground is an ideal destination for anyone who loves the outdoors and values a slower, quieter pace of life.
