Our Take
What makes Las Vegas Bay Campground special
Las Vegas Bay Campground offers 86 sites on the shores of Lake Mead, making it one of the larger and more accessible options for camping near the entertainment capital of the world. With a mix of standard and sheltered sites accommodating both tents and RVs, there is flexibility here that suits a range of camping styles. Fire pits and grills come standard, and the year-round operation means you can escape to the desert lakeshore whenever the mood strikes. The real draw is the juxtaposition — dramatic desert scenery, vast blue water, and striking red rock formations just a short drive from the Las Vegas Strip. Boating, fishing, and swimming dominate the activity list, with excellent kayaking along the sculpted sandstone shoreline. Spring and fall are the golden seasons, with warm days and cool nights ideal for camping. Summer demands serious heat preparation with temperatures well above 100 degrees. Reserve sheltered sites when available for crucial shade, bring abundant water, and consider a sunrise paddle before the afternoon heat builds. Las Vegas Bay is great for road-trippers, groups splitting time between nature and nightlife, and boaters wanting a reliable Lake Mead home base.
