Our Take
What makes Meadows ORV Campground special
Meadows ORV Campground is built for riders who live for the trail. Located near Mio in Michigan's northern Lower Peninsula, this 13-site campground sits at the heart of an extensive off-highway vehicle trail system that winds through the dense jack pine and oak forests of the Huron National Forest. If the sound of engines in the woods is your kind of soundtrack, this is your kind of place. The campground is designed with OHV enthusiasts in mind, accommodating trailers up to 25 feet and providing direct access to miles of designated riding trails that range from easy cruising routes to more technical terrain. The surrounding forest is a patchwork of sandy trails, gentle hills, and wooded corridors that keep the riding varied and interesting. When you are ready for a break from the throttle, the Au Sable River is nearby, offering some of Michigan's finest trout fishing and canoeing. Meadows is a no-frills campground where the emphasis is on trail access and camaraderie among fellow riders. Facilities are basic but functional, and the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming to newcomers. The riding season runs primarily from late spring through fall, with summer weekends being the busiest. Weekday visits offer more open trails and a quieter campground. Fall riding, when the hardwoods turn color and the air carries a crisp edge, is a particular treat that regulars look forward to each year.
