Our Take
What makes MINK CREEK GROUP SITE CAMPGROUND special
Mink Creek Group Site Campground is a small group-oriented facility just 12 miles south of Pocatello, Idaho, along the Bannock Highway. Despite its proximity to the city, the campground feels surprisingly wild, set in a mountain valley where birding and wildlife viewing are the primary draws. The West Fork Mink Creek Trail starts just outside the campground and attracts hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders looking for a quick escape from town. Additional trails including Corral Creek and Valve House extend the network for longer outings. The Mink Creek drainage is a known hotspot for songbirds, raptors, and migratory species, making it popular with birders carrying binoculars and spotting scopes. The single group site is designed for organized outings — scout troops, family gatherings, and educational groups — with a reservable layout that gives your party exclusive use. The surrounding Caribou-Targhee National Forest provides vast public land for exploring beyond the campground boundaries. Fall brings golden aspen stands to the hillsides, and early mornings often reveal deer and elk grazing in the meadows. A solid pick for groups wanting mountain atmosphere close to town.
