About Six Mile Campground (WY)

Overview Six Mile Gap Campground is 2 miles off Highway 230. Located in a saddle above the North Platte River and provides access to the North Platte River and Platte River Wilderness Area. NUMBER OF SITES: 6 and 3 pull-thru sites MAX TRAILER LENGTH: 30 AMENITIES: Picnic tables, bear canisters for food storage, vault toilets, potable water, fire grates, there is also NO Trash Service At ths location, please Pack-it-in-Pack-it-Out ELEVATION: 7,606 FIRE BANS/RESTRICTIONS: Please check with the Brush Creek Hayden Ranger station prior to your arrival to find out if campfires are allowed as fire restrictions and fire bans can go into effect at any given time. For most current updates, call 307-326-5258 CAMP HOST ON SITE: No PETS: Allowed, but must be kept on a leash no longer than 6 feet and under control at all times. ACTIVITIES: FLOATING: North Platte River. A separate parking area is available for hikers and river floaters. HIKING: Platte River Trail (For details on this trail go to homepage, click recreation, click day hiking, click the area. FISHING: The North Platte River is classified as a blue-ribbon trout stream by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department (WGFD). Fish species present include brook, brown and rainbow trout. *Special fishing regulations apply to the North Platte River upstream of Saratoga, Wyoming. Douglas Creek also offers good fishing opportunities. All watercraft (except for inflatables 10’ or less in length) must have a valid Wyoming Aquatic Invasive Species decal. Decals are available from the Wyoming Game and Fish Department (WGFD) online, at regional offices and at automated license vendors. Natural Features The Snowy Range rises from sagebrush and lodgepole pine forests in lower elevations to spruce-fir forests and alpine areas in the high country. The area offers views of rugged peaks over 12,000 feet, gorgeous snow-melt lakes and stunning displays of native wildflowers.
