Our Take
What makes Stateline Campground Long Term special
Stateline Campground Long Term sits at a breathtaking 9,200 feet on the northern slope of the Uinta Mountains, right beside the still waters of Stateline Reservoir. This is high-country camping at its finest, where the air is thin and crisp, the nights are cool even in midsummer, and the surrounding landscape of alpine meadows and subalpine forest feels like the roof of the world. With just three sites, this is one of the smaller campgrounds you will find in the Uinta range, and that intimacy is part of its appeal. The reservoir offers fishing for stocked trout in a setting so quiet you can hear your line hit the water from across the shore. The surrounding terrain is ideal for hiking and wildlife observation, with mule deer, elk, and the occasional moose making appearances in the meadows at dawn and dusk. The high elevation means a short camping season, typically running from late June through September, depending on snowpack. Even in July and August, overnight temperatures can dip near freezing, so come prepared with warm layers and quality sleeping gear. The long-term designation makes this a compelling option for extended stays, letting you settle into the rhythm of mountain life rather than rushing through. Stateline Campground rewards those who seek elevation, solitude, and the raw beauty of Utah's highest mountain range. If you can handle the altitude, you will not want to leave.
