Our Take
What makes Trout Creek Campground - Willamette (OR) special
Trout Creek Campground sits in the lush heart of the Willamette National Forest in western Oregon, where towering Douglas fir and western red cedar create a cathedral-like canopy over twenty-four single-loop campsites. Four pull-through sites welcome RVs, while the remaining spots are perfect for tent campers who want to settle in among ferns and moss-draped trees. A mix of reservable and first-come, first-served sites gives you the flexibility to plan ahead or arrive on a whim. True to its name, the campground is near excellent trout fishing waters, and the broader Willamette region offers world-class hiking, mountain biking, and waterfall chasing along the McKenzie River corridor. Summer is the prime season, when warm days and cool nights make sleeping under the stars a genuine pleasure, but early fall brings stunning foliage and thinner crowds. The campground is an ideal home base for families exploring the Oregon Cascades, anglers eager to test their skills on native trout, and weekend warriors looking for a quick escape from the Willamette Valley. With well-maintained facilities and a layout that balances accessibility with a sense of seclusion, Trout Creek delivers a classic Pacific Northwest camping experience that keeps visitors coming back year after year.
