Our Take

What makes TWIN LAKE CAMPGROUND special

Twin Lake Campground sits within a distinctive belt of juniper trees in Twelve Mile Canyon, a few miles outside Ephraim in central Utah. The landscape here is high desert transitioning to mountain forest, with gnarled junipers and pinyon pines framing views of layered sandstone ridges and the broad Sanpete Valley below. It is a setting that feels distinctly Utah, spare and beautiful in a way that grows on you with every hour. The campground serves as a popular staging area for off-road vehicle enthusiasts, with a network of OHV trails branching into the surrounding hills and connecting to the famed Skyline Drive, a high-elevation route that traces the spine of the Wasatch Plateau. Mountain bikers and ATV riders will find miles of terrain ranging from smooth forest roads to technical singletrack. For those who prefer quieter pursuits, fishing at nearby lakes and scenic drives through the canyon are equally rewarding. Summer is the prime season, with warm days, cool nights, and reliable access from roughly June through September. Early fall adds golden aspen color to the surrounding slopes. Twin Lake Campground is a natural pick for OHV groups, mountain bikers, and adventurous families who want a base camp with easy access to both backcountry trails and the scenic grandeur of the Wasatch Plateau.
