Our Take

What makes HURRICANE CREEK special

Hurricane Creek Campground stretches along the shores of Lake Barkley in western Kentucky, offering a quiet waterside retreat between the twin lakes region of Barkley and Kentucky Lake. The area is a magnet for anglers chasing trophy largemouth bass, striped bass, and catfish, with boat ramps providing easy lake access. Beyond fishing, the campground serves as a launching point for exploring Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area — 170,000 acres of forest, fields, and shoreline managed for outdoor recreation. The Elk and Bison Prairie and Woodlands Nature Station are both short drives away. Campsites are shaded by mature hardwoods and positioned for lake views, with a mix of waterfront and wooded options. Deer, raccoons, and wild turkey are frequent campground visitors. Spring and fall are prime seasons, with mild temperatures and fewer crowds than the busy summer months. The nearby towns of Grand Rivers and Eddyville offer restaurants and supplies. Whether you come for the fishing, hiking, or simply sitting lakeside with a book, Hurricane Creek delivers relaxed Kentucky lake country at its best.
