Our Take

What makes VICTORIA CAMPGROUND special

Victoria Campground sits on a wooded peninsula along the shores of Allatoona Lake, one of the most visited Army Corps of Engineers lakes in the entire country. Located near Cartersville in Georgia''s rolling piedmont hills, the campground draws nearly seven million visitors annually to its 270 miles of shoreline. Sites are shaded by tall hardwoods and many offer direct lake views or short walks to the water. Fishing is excellent year-round — the lake is stocked with bass, crappie, bream, and catfish, and fishing jetties provide accessible bank access. A boat ramp near the campground makes launching easy for boaters and kayakers. Swimming areas dot the shoreline for hot Georgia afternoons. The campground sits just 40 minutes north of Atlanta, making it a go-to weekend escape for metro-area families who want waterfront camping without a long drive. Spring dogwood blooms and fall foliage both put on a show along the lake. Amenities include electric hookups, hot showers, and a dump station. Book well ahead for holiday weekends — this is one of north Georgia''s most popular campgrounds for good reason.
