Our Take

What makes WHITE OAK (CREEK) CAMPGROUND special

Sitting on the Alabama side of Walter F. George Lake, White Oak Creek Campground is a laid-back southern escape where tall pines meet warm, gentle water along the Georgia-Alabama border. The lake, also known locally as Lake Eufaula, is one of the premier bass fishing destinations in the Southeast, and this campground puts you right in the middle of the action. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers operates the campground, which features a mix of tent and RV sites, many equipped with electric and water hookups. A well-maintained boat ramp provides easy access to the lake, and shaded picnic areas along the shoreline invite long, lazy afternoons. The nearby town of Eufaula, Alabama, is worth a visit for its stunning antebellum architecture and welcoming local eateries. Birders will appreciate the proximity to Eufaula National Wildlife Refuge, a haven for migratory waterfowl and bald eagles, particularly in the cooler months. Spring and fall deliver the most comfortable camping weather, though dedicated anglers chase largemouth bass and crappie year-round. Summer weekends draw families for swimming and water sports, so booking ahead is wise if you want a prime lakeside spot. White Oak Creek is the kind of place where the pace slows down, the fish bite steady, and the sunsets over the water make you forget about everything else for a while.
