Our Take

What makes Crestline Group Campground special

Crestline Group Campground is nestled in the San Bernardino National Forest in southern California, offering a convenient mountain escape for groups looking to trade the lowland heat for cool pine-scented air. The campground sits among tall conifers at a comfortable elevation, providing natural shade and a relaxed atmosphere that feels miles away from the busy communities below, even though it is surprisingly accessible from the Inland Empire and greater Los Angeles area. The campground is tailored for group use, with spacious sites designed to accommodate large parties for day use or overnight stays. Picnic tables, fire rings, and vault toilets are provided, and the forest setting is ideal for group games, nature walks, and outdoor cooking. Nearby trails wind through the national forest, offering everything from easy strolls to more challenging hikes with views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Lake Gregory is a short drive away, adding swimming and fishing to the list of possibilities. The season typically runs from May through October, with summer weekends being the most popular. Reservations are required for group sites and should be made well in advance, particularly for holiday weekends. Temperatures are mild during the day but can drop significantly after sunset, so layers are essential. For scout troops, family reunions, or corporate outings seeking a forested group setting within reach of southern California, Crestline Group Campground is a dependable choice.
