Our Take
What makes MINERSVILLE CAMPGROUND special
Seventeen miles north of the historic mining town of Weaverville, Minersville Campground occupies a spectacular position on the Stuart Fork Arm of Trinity Lake at an elevation of 2,400 feet. This corner of the Shasta-Trinity National Forest feels wonderfully remote, with forested ridgelines plunging down to meet the lake's deep blue waters in a setting that rewards every glance with postcard-worthy scenery. The Stuart Fork Arm is renowned among anglers for outstanding bass and trout fishing, and the campground's proximity to the water means you can have a line in the lake before your morning coffee cools. Boaters will appreciate the nearby ramp access, while swimmers and kayakers can explore sheltered inlets where the water warms nicely by midsummer. Trails leading into the Trinity Alps Wilderness begin not far from camp, opening up a world of alpine lakes, granite peaks, and meadows bursting with wildflowers for day hikers and backpackers alike. The best camping runs from late spring through early fall, when days are warm and the lake level is at its most inviting. Autumn brings golden oaks, uncrowded sites, and cool nights made for campfires. Minersville Campground is a dream destination for backcountry anglers, wilderness hikers staging trips into the Trinity Alps, and families drawn to the quiet, unspoiled beauty of Northern California's mountain lake country.
