Our Take
What makes Paraloma Park special
Paraloma Park on the north shore of Millwood Lake is the kind of place seasoned outdoorspeople whisper about and newcomers stumble upon with delight. Secluded and low-traffic, this campground near Lockesburg in southwest Arkansas offers something increasingly hard to find — genuine peace and quiet on productive water. The fishing here is excellent, with Millwood Lake renowned for its largemouth bass, crappie, and catfish. Come duck season, the surrounding bottomland hardwoods and marshy coves transform into prime waterfowl habitat that draws hunters from across the region. The secluded nature means you will not fight crowds for a spot, but it also means limited amenities, so plan accordingly. Fall is magical here, with duck hunting season, comfortable temperatures, and stunning foliage reflecting off the lake. Spring brings outstanding bass fishing as waters warm. Pack mosquito repellent in warm months, bring your own boat for the best fishing access, and stock all supplies before heading in. Paraloma Park is best for anglers, duck hunters, and solitude seekers who value quiet over convenience.
