Our Take

What makes Redbud Bay special

Redbud Bay sits on the eastern shore of Oologah Lake, one of Oklahoma's premier sailing destinations, less than 30 miles from Tulsa. The lake's consistent winds and open water make it a magnet for sailors, water skiers, and boaters who appreciate uncrowded conditions compared to nearby Grand Lake. Swimming beaches here offer a welcome retreat during the sweltering Oklahoma summers, which run from June through September — the ideal window for visiting. The campground provides solid waterfront access with boat ramps nearby, so you can launch early and fish for bass or catfish before the midday heat sets in. Evenings bring stunning sunsets over the lake that are hard to beat. A practical tip: weekdays are significantly quieter, so plan midweek trips if you want prime waterfront sites. Redbud Bay is best suited for boating families, sailing enthusiasts, and anglers looking for a convenient lake getaway without a long drive from the Tulsa metro area.
