About Tail Race Campground
The Tail Race Campground features three campsites with fire rings and a vault toilet. This campground is wedged between Fontenelle Reservoir and Seedskadee National Wildlife Refuge, and so makes a fantastic site for birding, fishing, or non-motorized water sports. Historically, this area was a gathering place for trappers during their annual rendezvous, and the modern day explorer can still see the lure of such a rich and welcoming area.

Tail Race Campground is a tiny, three-site camp wedged between Fontenelle Reservoir and the Seedskadee National Wildlife Refuge in southwestern Wyoming. This sliver of land along the Green River packs an outsized punch for its size. Birders flock here year-round to spot the diverse species drawn to the refuge''s wetlands and riparian corridors — trumpeter swans, sandhill cranes, bald eagles, and dozens of songbird species pass through across the seasons. Non-motorized watercraft can be launched for quiet paddling along the river. Getting There
Located 1/4 mile south of Fontenelle Reservoir on the east side of the Green River. To access the campground, travel east on Highway 372 for one mile, cross the Green River Bridge, then immediately turn north for four miles. Turn west before the dam to the river and go one mile further.
