Natural Features The campground sits alongside the river, in a towering canopy of Douglas fir, cedar and western hemlock, providing abundant shade. Rugged peaks, scenic rivers and abundant wildlife define the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest and surrounding designated wilderness areas. On a clear day visitors can see Mt. Baker, which rises to an elevation of 10,781 feet. The active volcano is perpetually snow-capped. Mt. Baker's summit, Grant Peak, is actually a 1,300-foot-deep mound of ice, which hides a massive volcanic crater. Wildlife in the area ranges from mountain goats in the higher elevations to coyotes and pine martens in the forests. Migratory birds and native fish find ample habitat in the varied ecosystems as well. contact_info For facility specific information, please call (530) 932-0242. Our Take

What makes Tinkham Campground special

Tinkham Campground stretches along the South Fork of the Snoqualmie River in Washington's Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, offering one of the larger camping options in the I-90 corridor east of Seattle. With 47 sites winding through a mature forest of Douglas fir and western red cedar, there is room to spread out and find a spot that suits your style, whether you prefer a riverside perch or a more secluded wooded nook. The location is ideal for those who want wilderness immersion without a long drive from the Puget Sound metro area. Snoqualmie Pass is just up the road, providing access to a web of hiking trails, including segments of the Pacific Crest Trail and the popular Annette Lake and Denny Creek trails. The river itself invites wading, splashing, and quiet contemplation on warm summer days. Tinkham is generally open from late May through September. Its proximity to Seattle means weekend sites can fill fast, so plan accordingly and consider midweek visits for a quieter experience. Some sites accommodate RVs, though the winding forest roads favor smaller rigs. Fall brings a mosaic of gold and amber to the surrounding hillsides, and the crisp mountain air makes for excellent hiking weather. If you are looking for an accessible Cascades escape with plenty of elbow room, Tinkham Campground fits the bill.
