Our Take
What makes ACKERMAN CAMPGROUND special
Sitting right on the shores of Trinity Lake near Redding, California, Ackerman Campground is a year-round haven for anglers and lake lovers who refuse to let any season keep them from the water. The campground enjoys a prime lakeside position where campsites look out across the reservoir toward forested mountains that shift color with every passing month. Fishing is the main draw here, and for good reason. Trinity Lake holds healthy populations of smallmouth and largemouth bass, rainbow and brown trout, and kokanee salmon, keeping dedicated anglers busy through every season. A nearby boat ramp makes launching easy, while bank fishing spots are plentiful for those who prefer to keep their feet on solid ground. Beyond the rod and reel, the lake invites swimming, kayaking, and leisurely pontoon cruises through quiet coves. Spring and fall offer mild temperatures and excellent bite rates, summer brings the full energy of vacation season with warm water and long days, and winter provides rare solitude along misty shores that few campgrounds in California can match. Ackerman Campground is built for fishing enthusiasts who want lakeside access twelve months a year, boaters seeking a reliable launch point, and outdoor lovers who appreciate a campground that stays open when most others have closed their gates for the season.
