What makes New Fork Campground special

Sitting at a cool 6,800 feet of elevation along the banks of the New Fork River, New Fork Campground near Pinedale, Wyoming, is a mountain-country classic. The air is crisp, the river runs clear, and the Wind River Range rises dramatically to the east, forming one of the most impressive alpine skylines in the Lower 48. The campground's riverside location makes it a natural hub for water-based adventure. It serves as both a put-in and takeout point for float trips on the New Fork River, a mellow and scenic paddle that winds through willow-lined banks and open meadows where moose and pronghorn are frequent visitors. Fishing is excellent here, with brown and rainbow trout working the riffles and deeper pools. Even if you never leave camp, the sound of the river alone is worth the trip. Pinedale, just a short drive away, is a welcoming mountain town with outfitters, restaurants, and provisions for whatever your trip requires. From here, you can access trailheads into the Bridger-Teton National Forest and the legendary Wind River high country, home to some of Wyoming's finest backcountry hiking and horsepacking. The season runs from late June through September, with July and August being the warmest and busiest months. At this elevation, nights stay cool even in midsummer, so bring layers. Reserve early if you are planning a weekend visit during peak season. New Fork Campground is a wonderful launching point for adventures both on and off the water.
