Overview Located off the Snowy Range Scenic Byway in the Libby Creek Recreation Area, the Pine Campground sits along the banks of Libby Creek. This is a small but pleasant campground with 6 sites. This location is available on a first-come, first-served basis only. Visitors are required to physically arrive at the campground to purchase and claim a site. Once on-site, you may be able to pay for your campsite(s) by cash, check, or scanning a QR code using the Recreation.gov mobile app, and the Scan and Pay feature. If this option is available, you will need to first download the free Recreation.gov mobile app https://www.recreation.gov/mobile-app prior to your arrival as some remote areas have limited or no cellular service. Pine Campground occupies a peaceful stretch of the Libby Creek Recreation Area just off the Snowy Range Scenic Byway near Laramie, Wyoming. The ten sites are arranged beneath a canopy of mature lodgepole pine along Libby Creek, where the water runs cold and clear over smooth granite and the air smells of evergreen resin and campfire smoke. It is a modest campground with a big personality, offering easy access to one of the most scenic drives in the Rocky Mountain West while maintaining the unhurried feel of a backcountry camp. Libby Creek is the heart of the experience. Anglers work the riffles for small brook and brown trout, and the creek is gentle enough for kids to splash around safely in the shallows. The Snowy Range Scenic Byway climbs from here into alpine country, passing mirror-still lakes, wildflower meadows, and windswept peaks above timberline. Several trailheads along the byway lead to day hikes ranging from easy lakeside loops to strenuous ridge walks with panoramic views of the Medicine Bow range. The campground is open roughly from mid-June through September. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring, with vault toilets nearby. No hookups or drinking water are available. Sites are first-come, first-served, and the small ten-site capacity means arriving early on Friday is wise if you are planning a summer weekend trip.
